Prime Minister José Maria Neves Official Visit to Washington D.C.

PMinistroCaboVerdeJoseMariaNevesCape Verde Prime Minister José Maria Neves, will be in Washington, D.C., on March 27th-30th, 2013, for a first official visit to the White House. The trip takes place in the context of a quadrilateral visit of African leaders, including Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Malawi.

President Obama will welcome the four leaders to the White House on Wednesday, March 28th. The Press Secretary announced the visit yesterday, noting  “our [US] commitment to working with strong and emerging African democracies.”

While in D.C., Prime Minister Neves is scheduled to meet with high level officials from the Department of State, the Pentagon, US Department of Transportation, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Also on the agenda of the Prime Minister are talks at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), and the Corporate Council on Africa.

The last leg of the visit, March 30ht-April 2nd, will take Mr. Neves to the New England area to visit the Cape Verdean community.
